Canada Has Reduced Period to Submit Permanent Residence Application to 60 Days – The Express Entry applicants will now have 60days to submit their application for permanent residency from the date they were given an Invitation to Apply and this was reverted from 90days which was given because of the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The news was announced on the 29th of June 2021 and this also showed that the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will relax the COVID-19 requirements and restrictions to allow permanent residency applicants get up to 60days to submit their application although this was how it has been before the COVID-19 pandemic swept the world.

The COVID-19 pandemic made a lot of countries change their immigration policies and canada wasn’t left out as it had to extend its date for submitting application for permanent residence to 90days after receiving an Invitation to Apply. This was to allow applicants get more time to prepare their documents.

Things are already getting to normalcy around the world and in canada, everything is getting back on track and so the IRCC has decided to reduce the number of days to 60 as this would help the visa application department to process higher volumes of applications and also welcome more immigrants to the country to help fill up labour shortages in the country.

This news took effect from 29th of June 2021 which means that all the Express Entry Applicants that received their invitation before the date of the announcement will have 90 days to submit their application for permanent residency in canada and so if you were invited to the last draw, you will not be affected by the change.

The IRCC will also put those affected by the coronavirus-related public health restrictions in one way or the other into consideration and this may include those who are yet to apply for Canadian Immigration, the Confirmation of Permanent Residency Holders and those whose applications are still being processed.
